I have had the most wicked birthday, it started last weekend when my friend took me to a dance party as an early birthday present.

On thursday night my mum and her BF took me out for dinner and with both of them being wine conossieurs we had a white, 2 reds and a desert wine to get thru all of the the really good stuff.

Was a bit hard to get up on friday for the first day of Armageddon but I had to get there early to pick up The Darkness issue #1 which my good friends at King of Cards had brought in for me. Bevan the guy that lost it was feeling so stink especially after Wendy almost made him cry with the guilt, he gave me $60 to try and replace it as when he had tried to find one I think he got quoted about $50 IF he found one, King of Cards sorted me out for $30.

So YAY! *happy dance* I have The Darkness #one again. First thing I did was go meet Marc Silvestri get him to sign about 6 issues and told him it was my birthday and begged him to draw me a birthday Darkling which he did (I'll scan it later and post it here) I am so stoked with it. Marc was really cool and his wife is really HOT [img]graemlins/devil.gif[/img]

Then it was off to find the 2 pieces of the beanie puzzle so we could get our free Beanie Baby. I got the autographs of The voices of Teenage Trunks from Dragonball GT, Megatron from Transformers and joey and Mai from Yu Gi Oh (I wouldn't of bothered with the last 2 but I promised my friend I'd get her young son the autographs.

The we went and heard George Takei (Mr. Sulu) he was really cool. My friend desperately wanted him to sign his book so we went up to him and shook his hand, some photographers had a contract to do photos that they were charging for but I asked George and he agreed we could take our photo with him so that was cool I hope they come out. Hey do you guys have to pay much to get stars to sign your stuff at cons? Here the comics and animation guys sign free but you gotta pay for stars.

Went and lurked at the Manga stand but couldn't make up my mind. Found a couple of Darkness special editions I was missing.

Went to see John Rhys Davies talk, very serious but very intelligent guy occasionally funny but in a very dark kind of way. Then I had seen the next guest from afar at the signing table and said hey he's totally cute in person and went to his talk it was Corin Nemec (Jonas from Stargate)
He was cool, philosophical, funny and totally gorgeous so I swore I was getting my picture taken with him the next day.

Had agreed to take pictures at a friends Father's 80th birthday s she had agreed to pay me a little and I needed money for the Con. It was really rather neat as her father was a ballroom dance teacher and most of his friends were professional dancers at some time and he's still going strong so it was amazing to see everyone dancing so perfectly to waltzes, tangos, sambas, rhumbas and jives, ikt was like going back in time but very difficult to take photos of I desperately hope they come out [img]confused.gif[/img]

Next day back at Con, stalk Marc again get him to sign more comics. He actually did a talk today and he's a great guy. Also got my photo taken with him. Went to see Xenia Steenberg from Lexx talk but left half way to get my photo with Corin *sigh* [img]graemlins/wonder.gif[/img] he's so cute! More random Con stuff finally made up my mind about Manga and bought Witchhunter Robin#1 and Noir box with#1 and T-shirt also I bought Noir 2-4.

Then home to get ready for my supercool dinner at Cazador with about 15 friends awesome food got a bit drunk got cool prezzies A Cosi Fan Tutti opera CD, a Travel Dairy for America, some wine glasses and the others had got together to buy a Rosina Wachtmeister framed print that someone from work had been selling and I'd been drooling over but couldn't justify buying it. My friends ROCK!

Urk! Could barely get up the next day for final day of the Con but did finally unfortunately Marc was late for another engagement so I missed getting him to sign the last of my comics. Went to see Corin speak again, alot more of my friends were there today too and I kept meeting random people I met on the NZManga forum and I've only been hanging out there for a week. Had to buy 2 last things Sprited Away for $10 BARGAIN and $10 for Gunsmith Cats. Hmmm! Most of the Manga I bought seems to have a 'Chicks with Guns' theme.

Phew!

I wind down next weekend with the Michael Buble concert my mum paid for half my ticket for my B'day.

I spent the whole day in bed with sarabiga...yes...I had one of my allergy crisis and she tended my nose and teary eyes.

I'm glad you got your #1 ish replaced.

I've only met one "star" at a comic con. Erin Gray was signing pics for about $5 or $10, but the money was all donated to battered women's shelters.

The other semi-star that I met was very cool once he figured out that me and my friend were fans of his. You're not allowed to smoke in buildings here in CA, so I'd been out smoking with him the first day of the con. My friend and I asked him if we brought stuff back the following day would he sign it. He said sure. Being the cheapskate that I am, my friend and I just hung out on the second day where we'd been smoking waiting for him to come out. When he did we explained that we didn't want to pay for another day just to come in and have him sign stuff. This guy was so cool he told us to wait a minute, went back in and came out and gave us vendor badges to get us both back into the convention.
